Mobile Slaughterhouse: KCTS 9 Connects
With the popularity of eating locally produced food on the rise, Farmer Cheryl Ouellette raises her own pigs to meet the growing demand. However, small farmers have no local mechanism for processing the meat they raise. Pierce County's mobile slaughterhouse program brings a USDA-licensed facility to local farms. The program benefits local farmers, animals, restaurants and "locavore" foodies alike.
